Cinema VinesA Munsiff court in Kochi issued a notice on Saturday to filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, Malayalam online news portal owner Shajan Skaria, and Meta Platforms Inc. after an injunction suit was filed for alleged defamation of actress Manju Warrier. The notice was served by Third Additional Munsiff Court Judge Reeja R Nair, who directed that the summons be returned on November 5 when the petition will be heard.
Warrier’s counsel, Santhi M, said the court had issued a temporary injunction preventing Sasidharan from further defaming the actress. “A person named Sanal Kumar Sasidharan continuously defames Manju Warrier, gives false news against her, and creates around 10,000 pieces of content daily on media and social media to defame her,” she told reporters. She added that the court had also ordered Meta to remove alleged defamatory content about Warrier from its platform.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Warrier in 2022, which led to Sasidharan’s arrest. Warrier has since filed criminal cases against him in 2022 and 2023 and has given statements before the court. Despite these legal actions, Warrier’s lawyer claims Sasidharan continues to publish false statements about her on social media.
Meanwhile, Sasidharan is on a hunger strike outside the state Secretariat, demanding the release of the Hema Committee report, a high‑level probe into irregularities, and an inquiry into alleged conspiracies behind the two cases filed against him by Warrier.
In recent years, Warrier has appeared in films such as L2: Empuraan (2025), Mr X, and has upcoming releases including Nere Chovva, HappiLoop, Odiyan: The Age of Illusion, and Ameriki Pandit.
