In a recent promo for the Sunday episode of Bigg Boss 20, Salman Khan was shown taking off his jacket and repeatedly calling for a doctor, which sparked concern among fans about his health. The clip, part of the show’s “Weekend Ka Vaar” segment, was edited in a way that made it appear as if the actor was seriously ill.
Shortly after the clip aired, Salman used his Instagram Stories to clarify that he was perfectly fine. He wrote, “Nothing is wrong with my health by the grace of God, The bigg boss promo should not have been cut like the way it was cut.” He explained that the purpose of the stunt was to demonstrate to housemate Qazi Touqeer the negative impact of faking illness for entertainment. He added, “It totally beats the purpose and looks like I am doing the same thing that Qazi was doing in the house. The pain was only to show Qazi that what he did was wrong because he used his health for entertainment, especially when the 15 people in the house were not aware that he was acting and were getting worried for his health.”
Salman also apologized for the way the promo was edited, stating, “Sorry abt the way the promo was cut, Guess it's the format that they use in promoting the shows, I apologise on their behalf.” He later thanked the Bigg Boss production team for correcting the footage, saying, “The Bigg Boss has rectified it. Thank u Bigg Boss.”
The controversy stems from an earlier incident in the first week of the season when Qazi Touqeer pretended to be sick after claiming he could “see things.” He asked for a doctor, only to reveal that he was acting and that the episode was meant to entertain the audience. While some viewers found the act humorous, others criticized it as irresponsible.
Bigg Boss 20 continues to air on Colors TV and stream on JioHotstar. The incident highlights the fine line between drama and authenticity in reality television, and the importance of clear communication between producers, hosts, and audiences.
