Cinema VinesRoja has clarified that the break in her professional partnership with actor Venkatesh was not the result of a personal feud but rather a series of misunderstandings and communication gaps that widened over time. She explained that the two had never had a major quarrel and that their relationship remained cordial, even after years of separation.
The first incident that strained their rapport occurred during the launch of a Telugu film starring Venkatesh under director Selvamani. While a Tamil film featuring Vijayakanth was becoming a hit, the producers decided to remake it with a different hero and heroine without informing Selvamani. At that point, Roja was romantically involved with the director and felt hurt by the lack of transparency. This emotional blow, she says, created a distance between her and Venkatesh.
A second event unfolded while Venkatesh and Roja were filming the movie Pokiri Raja near Mysore. A technical glitch forced a song to be reshot, and Roja had already told the crew she needed to return to Hyderabad by October 21 for Selvamani’s birthday. The shoot was delayed, causing her to leave abruptly for Hyderabad. Roja later revealed that Venkatesh was given incorrect information about her departure, leading him to believe she had left in anger. Because she did not explain the situation to him at the time, the misunderstanding persisted.
Despite these incidents, Roja insists there was no personal enmity. She recalls Venkatesh greeting her warmly whenever they met, even on a flight after she became a minister. He reportedly congratulated her, saying, “You deserve it.” The actress believes that small miscommunications, rather than any deep conflict, were responsible for the lack of a continued on‑screen partnership.
Today, Roja and Venkatesh maintain mutual respect. She stresses that their professional split was rooted in miscommunication, not a personal feud, and that both still hold each other in high regard.
