Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, is set to hit theatres on October 15, and the film’s producers have just unveiled the roles of two new characters through fresh character introduction videos released on Sun Pictures’ YouTube channel. The first teaser spotlights veteran Malayalam comedian‑actor Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep, a ruthless gangster whose loyal henchmen are willing to lay down their lives for him.
In the second clip, Tamil actor SJ Suryah makes his debut in the franchise as Bodhi Kalpak, a stylish, clean‑shaven antagonist who exudes a suave, confident aura. While the makers have kept the overarching plot under wraps, the promotional material hints that both characters will bring a fresh dynamic to the film’s narrative.
Directed by Nelson, who previously teamed with Rajinikanth on the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, the sequel promises to carry forward the high‑energy action and star power that made the first film the highest‑grossing Tamil release of the year. The original film featured memorable cameos from Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal, and an ensemble cast that included Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon and Sunil, with guest appearances by Jackie Shroff, Kishore and Makarand Deshpande.
It is expected that several actors from the original lineup will reprise their roles, and key crew members—music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, and editor R Nirmal—are returning to lend their expertise to the sequel’s production.
Further updates on the rest of the cast are slated to arrive soon, as Sun Pictures continues to build anticipation for what promises to be another blockbuster from the Rajinikanth‑Nelson collaboration.
