During his stay, the CM attended the Le Mans race at the iconic Silverstone circuit and crossed paths with fellow actor Ajith Kumar, who was competing with his racing team.
The encounter between Vijay and Ajith was captured in photos and videos that quickly went viral, showing the two actors embracing on the track. While the moment was celebrated by fans, some opposition leaders and critics questioned the purpose of Vijay’s overseas visit, noting that he has been in office for only a short time.
Actor‑turned‑commentator Prakash Raj weighed in on the controversy at an event in Tiruchirappalli. He urged the public not to rush to judgment, arguing that Vijay had only been Chief Minister for 120 days and deserved at least a year to prove his credentials. “Vijay is the Chief Minister not only for those who voted for him but also for those who did not vote for him,” Raj said. He added that he would reassess the government’s performance after the first budget and a full year in office.
Addressing the criticism over the Silverstone visit, Raj defended the trip as beneficial for Tamil Nadu. “There is nothing wrong with Vijay going abroad and meeting his friend Ajith,” he said. “The important thing is whether the purpose of the visit was achieved or not. Vijay himself said that the visit helped bring investments worth thousands of crores to Tamil Nadu, so there is no need to criticize him in a hurry.”
Vijay’s itinerary also included a visit with actress Trisha and TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna. Meanwhile, Ajith continues to focus on his film career and racing pursuits, leaving the public to speculate on the broader implications of the CM’s overseas trip.
