Ameesha Patel took to her social‑media platform X to launch a scathing critique of the escalating costs of celebrity entourages during film promotions. In a recent AMA session, the actress pointed out that many female stars appear to be “in denial of their stardom” by traveling with large entourages that producers foot the bill for, arguing that the expenses can exceed the film’s opening‑day earnings. Patel said the entourage sizes “are bigger than their day‑one collection,” and she urged that such lavish support should be reserved for the actors’ personal lives, not paid for by producers.
Patel did not single out any specific actress in her remarks, but her comments were widely interpreted as a broader indictment of the industry’s spending habits. She also addressed a fan who asked about new projects, replying that she does not want to be involved in “buy‑one‑get‑one‑free offer films” or movies with a ₹99 ticket price from day one. Instead, Patel expressed a desire to return to big‑budget films like Gadar 2 rather than “rubbish filler films.”
Earlier this year, Patel had expressed frustration over the way Indian actors are targeted online, noting that Indian stars face more trolling from their own audience than Hollywood stars do from their own countries. She lamented that fans often criticize an actor’s appearance or attire at major events, calling it “a shame.”
Patel’s most recent on‑screen appearance was in the 2024 romantic comedy Tauba Tera Jalwa, directed by Akashaditya Lama and starring Jatin Khurana and Angela Krislinzki. Her last box‑office hit was Gadar 2, which grossed ₹686 crore worldwide and featured her reprising the role of Sakina alongside Sunny Deol.
As of now, Patel has not announced her next film. The actress’s outspoken stance on promotional spending and industry practices has sparked conversation among fans and fellow actors alike.
