Waris had posted a clip from the Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, where he criticized Kaif’s appearance, sparking outrage among fans and fellow celebrities. The controversy intensified when Salman Khan, host of Bigg Boss 20, called out the trolls on his show, condemning the body‑shaming remarks.
Following Khan’s intervention, Waris issued a heartfelt apology on social media. In a video he wrote, “SORRY KATRINA KAIF, From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologise to Katrina Kaif for my recent remarks.” He explained that he had been “just watching this clip of Salman Khan from Bigg Boss” and realized that his comments could hurt the actress and her fans. Waris emphasized that body‑shaming was never his intention and apologized to both Kaif and Khan.
Waris admitted that the comments were made in a casual tone and that he had “just joked a bit for the hook of the video.” He expressed regret for any pain caused, stating, “I am really sorry, Katrina Kaif, if my words have hurt you and sorry to everyone whose heart broke because of my reel.” The RJ also described feeling a “burden in my heart” as the backlash grew, but insisted he was not afraid to be labeled as scared and that he remained strong and genuinely apologetic.
Other public figures joined the criticism of Waris’s remarks. Pakistani actor Ali Zafar publicly condemned the comments and voiced support for Kaif. Meanwhile, the actress herself has been praised for her resilience; she gave birth to her son Vihaan Kaushal with Vicky Kaushal in November last year, a fact that has prompted discussions about body image and societal expectations for new mothers.
In response to the controversy, Waris disabled comments on his post and referred to Kaif as the “superstar of India.” He concluded his apology by encouraging both actors to “keep rocking,” acknowledging the impact of his words and reaffirming his respect for the Bollywood stars.
