Virender Sehwag flips the script; audience votes decide Rise & Fall roles

Indian reality television is set for a fresh wave of drama as the second season of Rise & Fall returns to MX Player on September 26. The new edition brings a revamped format, a brand‑new host, and a bold twist that places the power of the show in the hands of the audience.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag will take over from Ashneer Grover as the host, promising a different tone for the series. Sehwag’s promo reveals the most significant change yet: viewers will decide the initial status of each contestant before the game even starts. By voting on MX Player’s Rise & Fall tab between September 20 and 23, the audience will assign a monetary value to participants—₹4 lakh, ₹3.5 lakh, or ₹75,000. The amount chosen will be the amount each contestant enters the tower with, and it could shape their chances of climbing or falling.

In the original season, contestants chose among themselves who would become the “Ruler” and who would start as a “Worker.” Rulers live in a penthouse, enjoy luxuries, and make the major decisions, while Workers perform tasks for the Rulers and often have to survive without basic comforts such as a bed. Sehwag explained that the audience’s votes will determine which contestants begin as Rulers and which as Workers, effectively auctioning their fates before the first episode airs.

The cast lineup features 15 new faces, including Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Karan Patel, Swara Bhasker, Shehzad Poonawalla, Kajal Raghwani, Tej Pratap Yadav, Sara Gurpal, Gautam Gulati, and content creators Anish Bhagat, Raj Grover, Niharika Tiwari, Siwet Tomar, and Kaira. The show’s premiere is slated for September 26 on MX Player, and the voting window will close on September 23.

With Sehwag’s charismatic presence and the unprecedented audience control, the second season of Rise & Fall promises to deliver a new level of engagement and suspense for viewers across India.
