Krishna Mukerji was best known for lending her voice to the 1982 song “Idd Ke Din Gale Mil Le Raja” from the film Teesri Aankh. Beyond her singing career, she played a pivotal role in encouraging Rani to pursue acting, even at times attempting to dissuade producers from signing her daughter.
In a 2025 interview, Rani recounted an incident where, after her first screen test, her mother was so unimpressed that she told a producer, “I think you’ll ruin your film by taking my daughter. You’ll go through losses. Better you don’t take her.” The producer, who was eager to sign Rani, was reportedly named Salim “Uncle” from the film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. Rani said her mother later realized she had misjudged her talent.
