Cinema VinesIn a decisive vote at the Producers Guild of India’s (PGI) first meeting of its newly formed Council of Management, Shibasish Sarkar was re‑elected as president for a fifth term. The decision came immediately after the Guild’s 72nd Annual General Meeting on September 22, 2026, and was unanimous among the council members.
During the AGM, the Guild welcomed a host of Bollywood stalwarts to its Council of Management. Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Rajkumar Hirani, Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya Akhtar were all inducted, adding a mix of actors, directors and producers to the governing body.
The council also confirmed the re‑election of several key office bearers. Manish Goswami, Madhu Bhojwani, Ankur Garg and Aashish Singh will continue as vice‑presidents, while Ashim Samanta and Fazila Allana retain their positions as treasurers. Additionally, Sushilkumar Agrawal and Hiren Gada have been elected as new vice‑presidents of the Guild.
Expressing gratitude for the renewed mandate, Sarkar said, “I am deeply honoured to be elected as President for the fifth year. I, along with my Council of Management colleagues, look forward to working closely with all PGI members in navigating both the opportunities and challenges that our industry is faced with.” The new council is poised to steer the Guild through evolving industry dynamics and support its members across the filmmaking spectrum.
