The film, which premiered on September 10, has already amassed a worldwide gross of approximately ₹111.8 crore, earning a net of ₹81.9 crore in India and surpassing the lifetime collections of several high‑profile releases.
Mathimaran revealed that just days before the shooting of the song “Usure Needhan Pulla,” Mahima was involved in a serious accident that left her face severely injured. The incident required extensive plastic surgery, with over twenty stitches applied to her collapsed facial structure. Despite the severity of her injuries, the actress returned to the set only six days after her operation, a decision that the director described as “shamelessly asking if she could come to the shooting” because he had no other option.
The director expressed deep admiration for Mahima’s dedication, noting that her hard work was instrumental to the film’s success. “Behind our success is her immense hard work and dedication. I will never forget it,” he said. The actress, who was born Gopika Palat Chirakkaraveettil, has a diverse filmography that spans Malayalam and Tamil cinema, with notable roles in Kuttram 23, Puriyatha Puthir, Magamuni, and RDX, among others.
After the film’s release, Mahima posted images of her appearance from the shoot on Instagram, reflecting on the emotional intensity of her character. She recalled moments of tears and the heavy emotional baggage she carried, yet she also admitted to enjoying the experience. “Months spent in the same place, in the same house, surrounded by the same people… and after a point, Thondi felt like home, and the people there felt like family,” she wrote.
The film’s ensemble includes actors Suhas, Sathyaraj, Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindravjay, Bala Saravanan, and Stun Siva. Mandaadi has outperformed several contemporaries, such as Arun Matheswaran’s Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s DC, which together collected ₹106.9 crore, and it remains just shy of Venky Atluri’s Vishwanath & Sons, which grossed ₹209.44 crore.
