Cinema VinesVeteran character actor Mushtaq Khan, renowned for his memorable supporting and comic roles in Hindi cinema, passed away at the age of 56 after a battle with lung cancer.
According to business partner Shivam, Khan died around 7 p.m. on Thursday. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer earlier and had initially recovered, only for the disease to relapse eight days later, forcing him into the hospital. The cancer was at its final stage when he succumbed.
For decades, Khan was a familiar face on the big screen, frequently appearing alongside leading stars in films such as Rowdy Rathore and the 2000 hit Hera Pheri. More recent credits include Gadar 2, Badhaai Do and Stree 2.
His talent was not limited to cinema; he also made a mark on television, appearing in shows like Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. Among his most celebrated performances was a role in Welcome (2007), where his iconic monologue—“Meri ek taang nakli hai, main hockey ka bahot bada khiladi tha. Ek din Uday bhai…”—remains etched in fans’ memories.
