Pen Marudhar has secured the theatrical distribution rights for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming 2027 film Love & War in a record‑setting deal worth ₹300 crore. The blockbuster, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is slated for release on 21 January 2027, marking a long‑awaited reunion between Kapoor and Bhansali after two decades.
The acquisition came amid a fierce bidding war that saw major players such as Dharma Productions, Jio Studios and Anil Thadani enter the fray. Sources told Bollywood Hungama that Pen Marudhar emerged as the winning bidder, securing the rights with a “global deal” that promises the biggest January release of the year.
According to insiders, the studio is confident that the ₹300 crore investment will be recouped and turned into substantial profits. They highlighted the star power of Kapoor, supported by Bhatt and Kaushal, noting that the ensemble is the largest ever assembled by Bhansali and justifies the hefty price tag.
Promotional material for the film has already generated buzz online, with posters released last week capturing widespread attention. Bhansali’s team plans to unveil a teaser around Diwali, aligning the launch with the festive season.
While the exact financial details of the distribution agreement remain undisclosed, the move underscores Pen Marudhar’s ambition to position itself at the forefront of high‑profile releases in 2027.
