After smashing box‑office records and attracting massive viewership on over‑the‑top platforms, the 2026 action thriller Dhurandhar The Revenge is slated to debut on television. The film will air on Star Gold this Sunday, October 18, at 7:00 pm. Because the theatrical release carried an ‘A’ certificate, the producers had to resubmit the picture to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for a television‑friendly cut.
On September 24, the CBFC cleared the film for a U/A 16+ rating, but only after demanding 45 to 50 edits. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama that the majority of the changes targeted extremely violent and gory sequences. The makers reportedly removed the disturbing content while preserving the movie’s overall impact, allowing the board to approve the TV version.
According to the CBFC’s website, the U/A 16+ cut runs 219 minutes and 6 seconds – a total of 3 hours, 39 minutes, and 6 seconds. The original theatrical version was 229.6 minutes long, or 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 6 seconds, making the television edit 10 minutes shorter.
The franchise features a star‑packed cast that includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. Directed and produced by Aditya Dhar in partnership with Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios and Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios, the story follows an Indian spy who infiltrates a notorious gang in Karachi, Pakistan, and creates chaos. The first instalment, Dhurandhar, opened on December 5, 2025, while the sequel premiered in theatres on March 19, 2026, both achieving record grosses.
In addition to the broadcast, Dhurandhar The Revenge has faced legal scrutiny over alleged disclosure of defence details, prompting the Delhi High Court to ask the government and CBFC to make an informed decision. Fans can look forward to the TV premiere while keeping an eye on the ongoing legal developments.
