Veteran film producer Vashu Bhagnani was taken to a London hospital earlier this week, according to the news agency ANI. The agency said the reason for his admission has not yet been disclosed, and Bhagnani himself requested to be left alone. No further details about his health or the expected length of his stay have been released.
The hospitalisation came just days after the Income Tax Department carried out raids at 12 locations in Mumbai on September 28. The sites were linked to Bhagnani, his daughter‑in‑law and actress Rakul Preet Singh, as well as Panorama Studios, a production house headed by Kumar Mangat Pathak. The searches were part of an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities involving film‑related transactions, with investigators examining documents, financial records and claims that funds may have been moved overseas under the pretext of financing movies.
While the Income Tax Department has not publicly disclosed any findings or confirmed that a tax violation has been established, multiple teams reportedly combed through the premises, looking for evidence of the alleged overseas transfers. The scope and nature of the transactions under scrutiny remain undisclosed.
Neither Bhagnani nor Rakul Preet Singh has responded to the reports about the raids. The investigation is understood to be ongoing, and further details are awaited. No official link has been confirmed between Bhagnani’s hospitalisation and the tax searches, and the two developments are being reported as occurring around the same time.
As of now, additional information regarding Bhagnani’s health condition is pending, and the outcome of the Income Tax Department’s inquiry will be announced once the investigation concludes.
