Jackie Shroff and Sharad Kelkar will headline the upcoming rural horror film Kaali Kheti, which is slated to hit Indian theatres on 23 October 2026. The release date was announced when the first official poster was unveiled, giving audiences a glimpse of the film’s eerie atmosphere.
The story, written and directed by Haris Imtiyaz Khan, is set against a rustic backdrop and blends horror with family drama and buried secrets. Khan has said that the film examines agriculture through a horror lens, a perspective he feels has never been explored before. “For me Kaali Kheti is about examining agriculture through the lens of horror. Something I hadn't seen before. Something that felt fresh, exciting and also deeply disturbing,” he explained. He added that the movie is a mirror to society, with a reflection that exists in a scary and fantastical world that feels strangely familiar.
While the first look poster establishes an ominous mood, the makers have deliberately kept the central mystery of the plot under wraps. The visual is designed to leave viewers questioning the story behind the unsettling setting and the events that unfold within it.
In addition to Shroff and Kelkar, the film features Neha Sargam, Virendra Saxena and Shaji Choudhary in pivotal roles. Produced by Sana Khan under the banner of BlackCanvas Studio, the ensemble cast supports the lead actors in bringing the rural horror setting to life.
With its poster now unveiled, Kaali Kheti is gearing up for a theatrical release on 23 October 2026, promising audiences a fresh take on horror that intertwines the familiar rhythms of village life with unsettling, supernatural twists.
