Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte’s Akka to Drop on Netflix Oct 30; Yash Raj’s Biggest Streaming Venture

Yash Raj Films has officially set a release date for its highly‑anticipated revenge thriller series Akka, which will debut on Netflix on October 30. The series, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, marks the South‑Indian actress’s first foray into streaming and pits her against the seasoned performer in a clash of powerful gangster queens.

Filmed in November 2023, Akka is billed as Yash Raj Entertainment’s biggest tentpole project to date. The story is anchored in the 1980s and follows a matriarchal society in a fictional South‑Indian city. When an outsider introduces an unseen threat, the once‑unassailable sisterhood of gangster queens is forced to confront violence and survival in a turbulent new era.

Directed by debutant Dharmaraj Shetty, the series showcases a large‑scale thriller that explores the lives of fierce women navigating a world dominated by power struggles and brutality. Tanvi Azmi also appears in a key role, adding further depth to the ensemble cast.

Akka represents the third collaboration between Yash Raj Entertainment, the streaming arm of Aditya Chopra’s production banner, and Netflix India. Earlier projects include the crime drama The Railway Men, featuring R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu and Babil Khan, and the investigative series Mandala Murders with Vaani Kapoor, Vaibhav Raj Gupta and Surveen Chawla. The partnership is expanding with the upcoming thriller Tunnel Men, based on the 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel rescue, slated to begin production early next year.
