Salman Khan’s latest venture, Maatrubhumi, has finally cleared a major roadblock after receiving clearance from the Ministry of Defence, paving the way for a theatrical release slated for November 13. The film, originally announced as Battle Of Galwan and later renamed, is a war saga set against the backdrop of the 2020 India‑China border standoff.
Because diplomatic ties between India and China have recently improved, the Defence Ministry raised concerns over the movie’s depiction of China and its involvement in the conflict. The makers responded by revising the script to present a more balanced view of India‑China relations, a change that satisfied the I&B Ministry officials. According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the ministry granted a No‑Objection Certificate (NOC) to the updated version last week, allowing the film to be shown publicly.
Salman Khan has earmarked the post‑Diwali period for the release, believing the festive mood will boost audience turnout. However, the film still requires clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The producers plan to submit the revised cut to the CBFC soon, and if the board gives its green light within the month, the release date of November 13 is likely to hold.
The updated version of Maatrubhumi differs significantly from the original, incorporating scenes that highlight a positive outlook on India‑China ties. The film also stars Chitrangada Singh and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
While the clearance marks a significant breakthrough for the star’s project, the final certification process remains pending. Fans and industry watchers will have to wait for the CBFC’s decision, which is expected to be announced in the coming days.
