Pen Marudhar lands Gunmaaster G9 and Jailer 2 Hindi rights; bags ₹35cr+ and ₹15cr+ deals

Pen Marudhar, one of India’s leading film distributors, has added two high‑profile titles to its portfolio this week. The company secured the all‑India distribution rights for the Telugu action‑thriller Gunmaaster G9 and the Hindi version of Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Jailer 2, paying a combined sum that tops ₹50 crore.

According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, Pen Marudhar paid more than ₹35 crore for Gunmaaster G9 and upwards of ₹15 crore for the Hindi version of Jailer 2. The distributor expressed confidence that both films would perform strongly at the box office. “The team at Pen Marudhar is confident that both Gunmaaster G9 and the Hindi version of Jailer 2 can work at the box office,” the source said, noting that the company’s recent success with Awarapan 2—which also stars Emraan Hashmi—has bolstered its belief in the potential of these releases.

Gunmaaster G9 features Emraan Hashmi alongside Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana. Directed by Aditya Datt, known for the 2005 hit Aashiq Banaya Aapne, the film is slated for theatrical release on 27 November. Pen Marudhar’s acquisition follows its earlier distribution of Awarapan 2, positioning the company to capitalize on the star power of Hashmi in both projects.

The Hindi version of Jailer 2 is expected to open in national multiplex chains on 15 October. The source highlighted that the first Jailer (2023) struggled in Hindi markets due to competition from Gadar 2 and OMG 2 and limited national releases, eventually gaining popularity through OTT and satellite channels. With a broader theatrical launch this time, the distributor anticipates a substantial box‑office haul. Rajinikanth’s previous Hindi release, Coolie (2025), earned ₹34 crore across multiplexes, underscoring the franchise’s potential in the Hindi market.

Jailer 2 marks Rajinikanth’s return as Muthuvel Pandian, also known as Tiger, and features Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and other notable actors. Pen Marudhar’s recent deals, including those for Love & War and King, demonstrate the company’s aggressive strategy to secure lucrative distribution rights for major Indian cinema releases.
