A public notice has appeared in the film trade, claiming that Ganesh Jain holds exclusive rights to the Sunny Leone‑Rahul Dev feature Chudail, previously known as Koka Kola. The notice was published in the October 3, 2026 issue of Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine and alleges that Jain has “exclusive rights and authorization” to negotiate the sale, license or assignment of the film’s digital, television and allied rights.
According to the notice, Jain’s claim stems from a finance agreement and finance term sheet dated June 3, 2019 and November 3, 2020. It states that he has been granted “sole and exclusive negative rights” over the film, covering copyright, intellectual property, remake, sequel, prequel, theatrical exhibition, digital platforms, television, satellite, streaming, video‑on‑demand, dubbing, merchandising, gaming and other forms of exploitation worldwide. The notice further asserts that these rights were “irrevocably sold, assigned and transferred” to Jain under the cited agreements, and that no copyrights, IPR or other rights would vest with the production house Sugar & Spice Production, represented by Chirag Dhariwal and Param Deep Sandhu.
Jain warns any party that may wish to transfer the film’s IP rights that they would do so “at their own risk and costs.” He also invites any copyright society, corporate body or individual with a claim or objection to his grant of rights to submit written notice and documentary evidence within ten days of the publication of the notice.
The public notice lists the film as “Koka Kola now named as ‘Chudail’” and identifies Sunny Leone and Rahul Dev as the lead actors. It remains unclear whether Sugar & Spice Production or other stakeholders will issue a counter‑claim or clarification in response to Jain’s assertion of exclusive ownership.
Industry observers note that the dispute could impact the film’s release strategy, as Chudail is expected to clash with other releases such as Sidharth Malhotra‑Tamannaah Bhatia’s The Vvaan. The controversy also follows other high‑profile projects in the pipeline, including Mahendra Dhariwal’s Maa Tujhhe Salaam 2.
