Virat Kohli denies Rs. 5‑crore visit claim; says trip driven by faith

Virat Kohli’s spokesperson has issued a forceful rebuttal to allegations made by Falahari Maharaj Dinesh Sharma, who claimed the star cricketer received Rs. 5 crore to visit the spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan. The spokesperson said the accusation was “completely false, baseless and factually incorrect,” adding that Kohli’s visits are driven solely by his personal faith and reverence for the ashram’s guru.

In a statement released earlier this week, the spokesperson urged the media to exercise due diligence, verify facts before reporting or amplifying such claims, and to “report responsibly.” The message emphasized that the cricketer’s trips to Premanand Ji Maharaj have always been voluntary and motivated by devotion, not financial inducement.

Kohli and his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, have been frequent visitors to Vrindavan since 2023, meeting the spiritual leader on several occasions. Their visits have been publicly documented through photographs and videos, and the couple has returned to the ashram multiple times since their first encounter.

The Rs. 5 crore claim surfaced after Dinesh Sharma, also known as Falahari Maharaj and president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, alleged that a property‑linked group paid the amount to facilitate Kohli’s visit, supposedly to boost the guru’s popularity. However, investigations have found no verified evidence or official documentation supporting the payment claim.

While the allegations have attracted attention, no independent confirmation has emerged. The spokesperson’s statement stands as the official response from Kohli’s camp, insisting that the cricketer’s spiritual journeys are purely faith‑based and not tied to any monetary arrangement.
