Malayalam drama Aasha, starring Urvashi, Joju George and Aishwarya Lekshmi, will move from theatres to the digital arena on October 16, 2026, according to a new announcement from ZEE5. The film, which hit Indian screens on September 11, explores the ripple effect of seemingly trivial choices, weaving a narrative that shows how one decision can set off a chain of consequences for multiple characters.
Director Safar Sanal, who also penned the story, has assembled a robust ensemble that includes Vijayaraghavan and Joy Mathew, as well as supporting roles from Ramesh Girija, Ajayan Adat, Prashanth Alexander, Shari, Amrutha Krishnakumar, Fehmin, Bhagyalakshmi, Kottayam Ramesh and Vishakh Vithura. The screenplay was a collaborative effort between Joju George, Ramesh Girija and Sanal, while Vinayaka Ajith produced the project.
The technical crew behind Aasha is equally seasoned. Cinematography was handled by Madhu Neelakandan, with editing by Shan Mohammed. Ajayan Adat contributed to sound design and sync sound, and production design was overseen by Vivek Kalthil. Colour grading was done by Srik Varier, and DI work was carried out by Color Planet Studios. Visual effects were produced by Meraki, and the film’s aesthetic details were managed by chief associate director Ratheesh Pillai, production controller Shabeer Malavattath, stunt director Dinesh Subbarayan, associate directors Jijo Jose and Febin M Sunny, costume designer Sujith CS, and makeup artist Shameer Sham.
ZEE5 will stream the film in five languages—Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi—providing a wide reach for viewers who missed the theatrical run. The platform’s release, just over a month after the cinema premiere, offers fans a convenient way to experience the story’s intricate cause-and-effect plot from the comfort of their homes.
