Ramayana to Offer Paid Previews on Nov 4; Godzilla Minus Zero Slated for Limited IMAX Showings

In a move that could spark a new wave of cinema‑goers, the makers of the highly‑anticipated epic Ramayana are reportedly weighing the option of holding paid previews on Wednesday, November 4, with a full theatrical release slated for Thursday, November 5. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama that the plan is still tentative, pending final approval from a range of international partners—including Sony Pictures and IMAX—who must be informed of the global rollout strategy. The film’s release window is expected to be confirmed by the end of the week or early next week.

At the same time, the Japanese blockbuster Godzilla Minus Zero is set to hit Indian screens on Friday, November 6, coinciding with its North American launch. While the monster movie will also be available in IMAX, the distribution strategy will differ from that of Ramayana. Because Ramayana is a domestic production expected to generate higher demand, Godzilla Minus Zero will receive a limited IMAX presence, likely only one showing per venue, with the majority of screenings allocated to Ramayana.

Two weeks earlier, Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with Kamal Gianchandani, Chief Business Planning & Strategy at PVR INOX Limited and CEO of PVR INOX Pictures Limited. Gianchandani confirmed that Godzilla Minus Zero will indeed release in India and is likely to debut in the same week as Ramayana. He noted that the film’s limited IMAX showcase reflects the relative market expectations for the two titles.

With the release dates of both films now circling the public, cinema owners and distributors are preparing for a busy November. The potential paid preview for Ramayana could set a new precedent for how Indian blockbusters engage audiences ahead of their official release, while Godzilla Minus Zero’s staggered IMAX rollout highlights the strategic balancing act between international and domestic cinematic offerings.
