Shakti Shalini shifts to March; avoids clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s King

Maddock Films has announced that its upcoming horror‑comedy, Shakti Shalini, will be pushed from its original December 2026 release window to the first quarter of 2027. The change is aimed at avoiding a clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s big‑budget blockbuster King, which is slated for the same Christmas season.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and starring Aneet Padda in her second theatrical outing after the 2025 hit Saiyaara, the film expands Dinesh Vijan’s popular horror‑comedy universe that also includes Stree, Bhediya and Munjya. Padda’s character introduces a new female‑centric spirit lore, while Vishal Jethwa and the late Nana Patekar also feature in the cast.

A source told Mid‑day that the makers initially chose a Christmas release because the film felt like a “festival offering” for the banner. However, given Padda’s recent success, the studio wanted to give her a solo spotlight, prompting the shift to early 2027.

The source added that January is crowded with releases such as Love and War and Golmaal 5, February hosts Naagzilla and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Mupapa, so March presents a comparatively free window. A definitive date has yet to be locked in, but the March slot remains the likely target.

Post‑production is reportedly progressing at full speed, and Maddock Films plans to confirm the final release date soon. Until then, fans can expect the film to arrive in March 2027, giving it a clear path to success without competing against the Shah Rukh Khan juggernaut.
