Salman Khan has postponed a scheduled public appearance after the sudden death of veteran actor Nana Patekar. The star was set to attend a GB Realty event on 8 October at the Taj Lands End hotel in Bandra, Mumbai, but the gathering has been put on hold and will be rescheduled. No formal statement has yet been released by either the actor or the organisers, and a new date remains unknown.
The decision comes as the industry mourns Patekar, who was widely respected and loved by his peers. Khan, who shared a close professional relationship with the late actor, felt that it was not the right time to participate in a public function. The actor’s passing was confirmed by his son, Malhar Patekar, after a cardiac arrest at his Goa home on the early hours of Thursday, 8 October 2026.
Patekar, 75, was a Padma Shri recipient whose career spanned both Hindi and Marathi cinema. He is best remembered for his powerful role as a mute father in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Khamoshi The Musical, where he co‑starred with Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala. The film remains a cherished part of his legacy.
In recognition of his cinematic contributions and his social work through the Naam Foundation, the Maharashtra government has granted Patekar a state funeral with full honours. His body was flown from Goa to Pune, where dignitaries, colleagues and fans gathered for the last rites at his farmhouse in Donje on Thursday afternoon.
Numerous celebrities have expressed their grief on social media, sharing heartfelt tributes to the late actor. The industry continues to honour his memory while awaiting the rescheduled event that Salman Khan had planned to attend.
