Killer Jeans, one of India’s pioneering domestic denim labels, has launched its new “Genes of India” campaign, positioning actor Meezaan Jafri as the face of the initiative. The brand seeks to shift how denim is perceived across the country, highlighting the garment’s ubiquity and its adaptation to regional, urban and generational tastes.
Denim has become a staple in Indian wardrobes, worn by all age groups for work, travel, social events and celebrations. The Genes of India campaign underscores this trend, portraying denim as a shared element of Indian style that spans from the northern reaches of Kashmir to the southern tip of Kanyakumari. Jafri, who has become a relatable figure for younger consumers, emphasizes that denim is “something almost everyone in India relates to, whatever their background or city.” He adds that the campaign celebrates the fact that “everyone wears denim differently,” rather than prescribing a single look.
The campaign features Killer Jeans’ latest addition, the Neo Flare, which offers a modern take on the classic flare cut. Designed to sit slim through the hips, thighs and knees before widening below the knee, the silhouette creates a longer, leaner profile that pairs well with sneakers, boots or any casual footwear. The collection is supported by a range of fabric innovations, including Selvedge Denim for its texture and craftsmanship, K-Tech Denim for a lighter feel, SoftPro Denim for a softer hand‑feel and Cool Core Denim for comfort in varying weather.
Hemant Jain, Joint Managing Director of Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited, highlights the brand’s focus on Indian manufacturing and craftsmanship. He notes that “Denim has always been something I’ve felt people can make their own. In India, that feels even more interesting because the way you wear it changes from city to city, from generation to generation, and from person to person.” The campaign aims to showcase this diversity and support a stronger domestic denim category where consumers can find quality, trend‑relevant products.
