Cinema VinesAbundantia Entertainment, the Indian production house headed by Vikram Malhotra, has announced the spin‑off of its AI‑driven creative unit, aiOn, into a fully independent studio. The move marks a pivotal step in the company’s strategy to harness artificial intelligence across the entire filmmaking pipeline, from research and development to final screen delivery. While aiOn will remain under the Abundantia umbrella for the time being, it will operate with its own distinct brand and creative mandate, with Malhotra continuing to steer the initiative.
The new studio is being positioned as a “fully‑integrated, total capability movie studio,” according to Malhotra. aiOn will produce and finance original stories that are either entirely AI‑generated or hybrid projects combining live‑action footage with AI‑enhanced elements. The company is building its own creative and production ecosystem to support this vision, emphasizing a “Human‑First, AI‑Empowered” approach that prioritises human authorship while leveraging AI to amplify storytelling power.
Abundantia launched aiOn a year ago, signalling its commitment to AI‑led content creation. The studio has already partnered with InVideo to develop a slate of five AI‑driven films over the next three years. Malhotra highlighted that the launch was “disruptive, exciting and special,” and that the next phase will see aiOn expanding its capabilities into a full‑scale studio by 2027. The studio’s first projects, which include fully AI‑generated films and live‑action‑AI hybrids, are slated to roll out in the first quarter of 2027.
Founded in 2013, Abundantia Entertainment has built a diverse catalogue of films and streaming originals, such as Baby, Airlift, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, Chhorii 2, and series like Breathe and Daldal. Recent releases include Subedaar starring Anil Kapoor and Maa Behen featuring Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri. With aiOn’s launch, Abundantia aims to blend its storytelling expertise with cutting‑edge AI technology to shape the future of entertainment.
