Jailer 2 confirms Hindi release; no change to October 15 plan

The makers of the highly anticipated sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer have issued a definitive statement confirming that the Hindi version of Jailer 2 will hit Indian cinemas on Thursday, 15 October 2026, alongside its other language releases. The clarification comes after a wave of speculation that the Hindi edition might be delayed or restricted due to a four‑week OTT window that some reports linked to a larger digital rights deal. The statement emphasised that there has been “no change” to the planned release schedule.

In the official communication, the film’s team addressed the media’s concerns, noting that “in light of recent media reports suggesting that Jailer 2 will not be releasing in Hindi, we would like to officially clarify that the film’s Hindi version is scheduled for a theatrical release on Thursday, 15th October 2026, alongside its other language versions, as originally planned.” They also confirmed that the North Indian market will be handled by distributor Pen Marudhar Entertainment, ensuring that the Hindi version will have a full theatrical run.

The confusion stemmed from reports that the Hindi version could face a limited theatrical presence due to the standard eight‑week theatrical‑to‑OTT window for Hindi films, which might clash with a four‑week window reportedly tied to a larger digital rights agreement. National multiplex chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis typically observe an eight‑week window, but the makers clarified that this does not affect the Hindi release.

In addition to confirming the release date, the statement urged media outlets to refrain from circulating unverified information. “We request all media publications and platforms to take note of this clarification and refrain from circulating any unverified information regarding the film’s release,” the team said, thanking the press for its support and cooperation.

With the clarification in place, fans of Rajinikanth can look forward to the Hindi version of Jailer 2 opening on the same day as its other language versions. Further details on the film’s theatrical rollout and distribution will be announced as the release date approaches.
