Actress Banita Sandhu has been confirmed as part of the ensemble for Akshay Kumar’s forthcoming science‑fiction action‑survival film Samuk. The movie, directed by Kanishk Varma, is currently being shot in London and is expected to feature Sandhu in a pivotal role.
Sources say Sandhu will portray a British‑born Indian environmentalist who becomes embroiled in a mission that thrusts her into unforeseen circumstances. Details about her character and the overall storyline remain tightly guarded, with the makers deliberately keeping plot points and individual arcs under wraps.
Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures and co‑produced by Aashin A. Shah, Samuk marks the first collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Shah in thirteen years. The film is positioned as a theatrical venture that blends elements of science fiction, action, and survival drama.
Sandhu’s addition expands an already eclectic cast that includes Rukmini Maitra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajat Kapoor, and Swanand Kirkire, among others. Her previous work spans Hindi cinema and international projects, from Shoojit Sircar’s October to films such as Sardar Udham and Main Vaapas Aaunga, and the global series Bridgerton.
Akshay Kumar and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah reunite after a decade apart, having previously collaborated on titles like Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, and London Dreams. With filming underway in London, more information about the plot and character dynamics is expected to surface closer to the film’s release.
