Veteran actor Anupam Kher has wrapped the first shooting schedule of his upcoming film Shri Ram Bhoomi in Ayodhya, marking a significant milestone for the project. The schedule, which began earlier this month, saw Kher portray the late Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal, a key figure in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. The film, produced by Zee Studios and directed by Kamakhaya Narayan Singh, also features Ritwik Bhowmik and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles.
On July 17, 2026, Kher took to social media to share an emotional reflection on his time in the holy city. In a heartfelt note, he described Ayodhya as “not a city, it is an emotion,” and said that as he returned from the set, it felt as though a part of him had stayed behind. He added that the experience had left him with beautiful memories, a deeper understanding of Sanatan Dharma, and a sense of pride in contributing to a film that seeks to present history and faith with honesty.
The actor highlighted the impact of visiting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and interacting with the local people. He said the darshan, the affection of the people, and the energy of the sacred land enriched him not only as an actor but also as a human being. Kher expressed that Ayodhya will always remain a part of his soul.
In his post, Kher thanked the people of Ayodhya, the saints who blessed him, his friends Yatindra and Manjari Mishra for their hospitality, director Kamakhaya Narayan Singh, cinematographer Aseem Bajaj, and every member of the film’s unit for making the journey memorable. The completion of the first schedule is a promising step toward the film’s release, which aims to portray the spiritual and historical significance of the region with sincerity.
