BMC tears down Ajay Devgn’s Juhu home; illegal work exposed

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken action against parts of actor Ajay Devgn’s 7,802‑square‑foot bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu area, demolishing sections that the council says were built without the required municipal permissions. The demolition follows a stop‑work notice issued by the BMC on September 10 under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, which demanded that all construction work be halted immediately and that the necessary documentation be submitted.

According to the BMC, the work carried out on the property included internal alterations, the erection of partition walls, modifications to windows and other structural changes. Despite the notice, the construction continued, prompting officials to visit the site and dismantle the unauthorized portions. Visuals from the site showed BMC workers using hammers to remove parts of the structure.

The bungalow, located within the Kapole Co‑operative Housing Society in Juhu, had been the subject of scrutiny after allegations surfaced that the renovations were carried out without proper approval. The civic body’s intervention underscores the municipality’s commitment to enforcing building regulations in the city’s upscale neighbourhoods.

While the demolition news made headlines, Ajay Devgn’s latest film, Drishyam 3, remains on the big screen. The crime‑thriller sequel, released on October 2, has already crossed the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide and has received positive reviews for its performances, suspense and twists. The film, directed by Abhishek Pathak and featuring Shriya Saran, Tabu and Akshaye Khanna, continues to draw audiences as the third and final installment of the franchise.
