Ramayana: Part One to stream on JioHotstar after theaters; pay‑per‑view launch follows 5 Nov theatrical debut

Indian cinema’s latest epic, Ramayana: Part One, is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, with screenings in IMAX 3D and in six languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in partnership with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, adapts Valmiki’s ancient epic into a two‑part live‑action saga with music from Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman.

After its exclusive run in cinemas, audiences in India will be able to purchase the film on JioHotstar through a dedicated on‑demand, pay‑per‑view offering. The platform will provide the movie across supported devices in the highest quality available, allowing viewers to experience the story from the comfort of their homes once the theatrical window closes.

JioStar Chairperson Nita M. Ambani said the partnership “will help take the cinematic adaptation of the epic to audiences beyond theatres” and highlighted the film’s role as a cultural touchstone that “has shaped our conscience, inspired our imagination, and guided the way we live for centuries.” She added that JioHotstar’s vision is to use technology to bring “the finest stories within reach of every Indian,” and that it is “a privilege” to present the grand vision of Ramayana to families across the country.

Producer Namit Malhotra emphasized the importance of a large‑screen experience, noting that “Ramayana should be experienced on the biggest screen possible, in IMAX 3D.” However, he acknowledged that cinema infrastructure cannot reach every audience member, stating, “Ramayana belongs to every Indian, and our ambition must reflect that.” He praised JioHotstar for its history of using technology to unite the nation through sports and entertainment, calling the platform a natural partner to bring the epic into living rooms after its theatrical run.

With the film’s digital launch set to follow the November 5 theatrical debut, fans can look forward to a comprehensive viewing journey that spans the grandeur of cinema halls and the convenience of on‑demand streaming.
