Ranbir Kapoor apologises for tongue slip at Chennai Ramayana event; says ‘Jo bhi main kehna chahoon, barbaad karein alfaaz mere!’

Ranbir Kapoor, the star of the upcoming epic Ramayana, took to the stage in Chennai to celebrate the film’s launch, joined by co‑stars Yash, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh, producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and the legendary composer A. R. Rahman. Rahman performed a selection of the movie’s soundtrack, enchanting the audience with his signature style.

During the event, Kapoor addressed the crowd in a warm greeting, thanking Chennai for its enthusiasm and explaining that Ramayana is a tale that unites people through love, faith and shared cultural heritage. He also reflected on his past collaborations with Rahman, citing the music of Rockstar and Tamasha as personal highlights.

In a candid moment, Kapoor apologized for a slip of the tongue that occurred the previous day at a Dussehra celebration in Kolkata, part of the film’s promotional tour. He clarified that the line he intended to utter was, “Burai chahe kitne bhi taaqatwar kyun na ho, aakhir mein jeet sachhai aur achhai ki hi hogi,” but mistakenly said, “Burai chahe kitne bhi taaqatwar kyun na ho, aakhir mein anth sacchai aur acchaai ki hi hogi.” The mispronunciation sparked a viral clip and widespread online teasing.

To smooth over the incident, Kapoor quoted a line from a Rockstar track, “Jo bhi main kehna chahoon, barbaad karein alfaaz mere,” and expressed genuine remorse for the error. He thanked the audience for their understanding and reiterated his excitement about the film’s release on November 5 in cinemas worldwide.

Ramayana is set to hit screens globally on November 5, with the first part already enjoying tax‑free status in West Bengal, as confirmed by the state chief minister. The film’s launch in Chennai, featuring a star‑studded lineup and a memorable musical performance, marks a significant milestone in its promotional journey.
