CBFC cuts blood‑on‑map shot from Udta Teer; adds safety notices

Udta Teer, the spy comedy that is set to hit Indian screens on October 23, has recently cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after the makers made a few last‑minute adjustments. The film, which blends a quirky storyline with humor and a star‑studded cast, was granted a U/A 13+ certificate.

According to the certification details, the only significant edit required was the removal of a shot that displayed blood on an Indian map. To smooth the transition, the CBFC requested that the preceding shot be extended. In addition, the board mandated the inclusion of safety notices: an anti‑smoking disclaimer reading “Smoking Kills” in five separate scenes, and an anti‑liquor disclaimer in a scene depicting alcohol consumption. No changes were demanded for dialogue or action sequences.

With these modifications in place, Udta Teer was approved by the CBFC. The certificate lists the film’s running time as 137.41 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 17 minutes and 41 seconds.

The movie stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, alongside the late Mukul Dev and other supporting actors. Written and directed by Akash A Kaushik, it is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta’s Dharma Productions, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain’s Sikhya Entertainment.

Plot-wise, Udta Teer follows a Pakistani spy who infiltrates India but loses his memory. In a twist of fate, he comes to believe he is a devoted Indian patriot, leading to a series of chaotic and comedic situations.
