Ram Gopal Varma’s Police Company to hit screens June 4, 2027; Harshvardhan Rane leads a police‑centric crime saga

Ram Gopal Varma is set to return to Mumbai’s gritty underworld in his latest crime epic, Police Company. The film, produced by T‑Series in partnership with RGV Company Production, will open nationwide on 4 June 2027, offering a fresh perspective that places police officers at the forefront of the city’s gang wars.

At the centre of the story is Harshvardhan Rane, who will play Daya Nayak, a Mumbai police encounter specialist whose operations during the late 1990s and early 2000s played a pivotal role in dismantling the city’s underworld. The narrative is inspired by real events and the actions of actual officers, charting how the encounter squad neutralised roughly 300 gangsters and helped end the terror network that once ruled Mumbai’s streets.

Varma, known for classics such as Satya and Company, shifts the focus from gangsters to law enforcement, promising a character‑driven tale that delves into aggressive policing tactics and high‑stakes operations that defined a volatile era in the capital’s crime history.

The ensemble cast includes Fardeen Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Paresh Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, Makarand Deshpande and Ashwini Kalsekar, many of whom have previously collaborated with Varma on his signature crime films. Their presence is expected to add depth to the story’s exploration of Mumbai’s underworld and the police forces that confronted it.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T‑Series, the film is directed by Varma and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Varma himself under the banners of T‑Series Films and RGV Company Production. With its real‑life roots and focus on a defining period in Mumbai’s criminal history, Police Company marks Varma’s return to the genre that has long captivated Hindi‑film audiences.
