Arshad Warsi Back as Jolly in New Prequel; Filming to Finish by January 2027

The Jolly LLB series is gearing up for its fourth chapter, with veteran comedian Arshad Warsi set to reprise his iconic role as lawyer Jagdish Tyagi, better known as Jolly. Variety India reports that production is underway and the shoot is slated to wrap by January 2027. While the title remains undecided, the film is expected to hit screens in 2027, though a firm release date has yet to be announced.

Umesh Shukla will helm the new installment, which will act as a prequel rather than a continuation of the previous storylines. A source told Variety India that the project is in the final stages of pre‑production and “is not taking the film forward. It’s a prequel.” This marks Warsi’s return to the franchise’s central character after Akshay Kumar carried the spotlight in Jolly LLB 2 and 3.

Warsi first introduced Jolly in the 2013 courtroom comedy written and directed by Subhash Kapoor. The film blended legal drama with humor and social commentary, following a small‑time lawyer who tackles a high‑profile case. The second and third films saw Kumar step into the role of a rival lawyer, culminating in a courtroom showdown between the two Jollys.

With the upcoming film set to explore an earlier chapter of Jolly’s career, fans can expect a fresh look at the character’s origins. However, details about the plot and supporting cast remain undisclosed. Saurabh Shukla, who has portrayed Judge Sunder Lal Tripathi in previous installments, may return, but other familiar faces such as Amrita Rao, Boman Irani, Mohan Kapoor and Sanjay Mishra have not been confirmed.

As the production moves forward, audiences will be watching closely for updates on the final title, release schedule, and cast announcements that will bring the beloved courtroom drama back to life.
