Indian actress Anushka Sen has been appointed as the Indian Global Ambassador for the 2026 Newport Beach Film Festival, a role that underscores her growing presence on the international stage. The announcement, made public this week, comes as Sen prepares to debut in Korean cinema with the co‑production Jeju Olle, a romantic musical that blends Indian and Korean storytelling traditions.
In her new capacity, Sen will represent Indian talent at the festival, which showcases films and narratives from around the world. The 2026 edition of the Newport Beach Film Festival will feature her film in the Korean Spotlight program, marking a significant milestone for both the actress and the festival’s commitment to cross‑cultural collaboration.
Jeju Olle follows the journey of Alisha, an Indian singer and actor who travels to Jeju Island after a personal loss. While there, she meets Ha Sun‑woo, a former K‑pop idol, and the two bond through music and shared experiences. The film explores themes of healing, self‑discovery and new beginnings, and is shot in Korean, Hindi and English.
The project is written and directed by Jin Kwang‑Kyo and produced by Storyworks Co., Ltd., Lucifer Production, and Celebridge. It stars Sen alongside South Korean actor Kang Hyung‑seok, known for his roles in series such as Hometown Cha‑Cha‑Cha. The North American premiere of Jeju Olle is scheduled for October 21, 2026.
Sen’s dual roles—as ambassador and lead actress—highlight the expanding opportunities for Indian performers to collaborate internationally. Her appointment reflects a broader trend of Indian talent gaining visibility in global markets, and her work in Jeju Olle promises to bring a fresh, cross‑cultural perspective to audiences worldwide.
