Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone will reunite on the sets of the upcoming action‑entertainer King for a grand song sequence that is slated to begin filming in Mumbai on October 26. Variety India reports that the week‑long shoot will feature the entire cast, with renowned choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant at the helm. Preparations are already underway as the crew gears up for the high‑energy number.
Earlier speculation had the team traveling to South Africa for the sequence, but the latest update confirms that the makers have decided to film the song locally in Mumbai. The production team has been making extensive arrangements to ensure the sequence becomes a standout moment in the film.
Vaibhavi Merchant will mark her eighth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, having previously worked with him on Jawan. The shoot also coincides with Deepika Padukone’s return to the set after welcoming her second daughter, Devi Padukone Singh, with husband Ranveer Singh.
With King set to release in cinemas during the Christmas 2026 window, the film will be the sixth on‑screen pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Their past collaborations include Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan and Jawan, adding to the buzz surrounding the new project.
The film, directed and co‑written by Siddharth Anand, boasts an ensemble cast that includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal, with Abhay Verma also attached. It is backed by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures under the stewardship of Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand.
When it hits screens, King will face stiff competition from major Hollywood releases such as Jumanji, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3. As the release date draws near, the upcoming song shoot remains one of the latest developments in the buzz surrounding the Shah Rukh Khan‑led film.
