In a move that has drawn attention across the entertainment industry, the legal team representing actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna has lodged a formal complaint with Hyderabad’s Cyber Crime authorities. The complaint seeks an investigation into a series of online posts and digital materials that the pair’s representatives claim contain fabricated claims, manipulated images and videos, impersonation and targeted harassment that emerged after the couple’s appearance on the ninth season of the popular talk show “Koffee With Karan.”
The filing, submitted in person by the team’s representative, includes links to the contentious content and supporting evidence for the police to examine. P. Nishanth Kumar, the manager of both actors, is named as the complainant. The team clarified that its intent is not to curb free speech or legitimate criticism but to hold accountable any unlawful or demonstrably false information that may have been circulated.
According to the complaint, the authorities should scrutinise specific online publications for materially false statements, fabricated quotations or screenshots, deceptively altered images or videos, false attribution, impersonation or other conduct that could attract legal consequences. It also references claims that the actors experienced emotional distress or harassment during the television programme, allegations of a breakup or divorce, and changes in social media activity. The complainant stresses that no assumption of guilt should be made; each claim must be evaluated against primary material, its origin and context.
The Virosh team has stated that every instance of publishing or reposting potentially unlawful content will be examined on its own merits, and that appropriate legal remedies will be pursued where warranted. The statement urges responsible sharing of unverified claims and cautions against presenting speculation as established fact.
The complaint follows the online debate that erupted after Vijay and Rashmika’s joint appearance on “Koffee With Karan” Season 9, during which they discussed their relationship and the path to marriage. Vijay recalled how Rashmika expressed her feelings first and how he asked her to ask him “100 times” before agreeing. Rashmika explained that the remark was meant to be understood in the context of their conversation. The controversy surrounding the show’s revelations has now prompted the actors’ team to seek a formal investigation into the digital content that has circulated since.
