Cinema VinesBhumi Pednekar is set to team up once again with Akshay Kumar for a new comedy directed by the veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan. The duo will be working together for the third time, after their previous collaborations in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and the 2022 hit Raksha Bandhan. Priyadarshan’s upcoming film will be his 99th directorial effort and is slated to begin production in the final week of November 2026.
According to a report from Hindustan Times, Bhumi has already been signed as the film’s leading lady and Priyadarshan himself has confirmed her involvement on HT City. While the script details remain under wraps, the story is expected to be a period comedy set in the 1970s, with Akshay Kumar playing a tiger hunter. Early speculation hinted that the narrative might weave in themes of wildlife conservation alongside humor and thriller elements, but the makers have yet to disclose any concrete plot points.
The production is being handled by Ramesh Taurani, and rumours suggest that veteran actors Annu Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav could also appear in the film, although their roles have not been officially announced. Shooting locations are likely to include Rajasthan and Mumbai, with Bhopal also being considered as a potential site.
With the release of Raksha Bandhan in 2022 under director Aanand L. Rai, Bhumi and Akshay’s on‑screen chemistry was well received. Their reunion under Priyadarshan’s direction promises a fresh setting and a new dynamic, as the story is said to take place several decades earlier than their previous collaborations.
Fans of the pair can look forward to a new chapter in their film partnership, with the project scheduled to commence filming in late November 2026 and a projected shoot duration of around three months.
