Tips Films and its music arm, Tips Music, have teamed up with Bollywood heartthrob Emraan Hashmi to bring a new musical horror to the silver screen. The project, titled Rooh, will see the actor return to the horror genre after a five‑year hiatus, this time blending scares with romance and a soundtrack that promises to be as integral to the story as the plot itself.
Directed by Mayank Sharma and written by Sharma alongside Vishal Kapoor, Rooh is set to hit theatres in 2027 across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets. The film’s narrative is described as a “theatrical experience that blends horror and romance, with music at the centre of the narrative,” according to the production team.
Kumar Taurani, the head of Tips Films, recalled his long‑standing relationship with Hashmi, noting that the two first worked together on the actor’s debut film Footpath (2003). Taurani said, “The association with Emraan is special, as we were also the producers on his debut film Footpath (2003). Over the years, we have had many memorable successes across several films and with Rooh, we are excited to recreate that magic once again.” He added that he was eager to collaborate with Sunny Khanna and Vikram Khakhar on the project.
Vikram Khakhar of Vicked Films Productions called the partnership a milestone, stating, “Rooh is a very special project for us. Having Tips Films and Tips Music join us is a significant milestone. We are collectively excited to bring an immersive and memorable horror experience to audiences in theatres in 2027.” Khanna echoed this enthusiasm, highlighting the legacy of Taurani and Girissh Kumar in both film and music industries and expressing excitement about a film where music plays a pivotal role.
Hashmi himself described the musical vision of the film, saying, “Collaborating with Kumar ji on this film feels serendipitous. Music has always been an integral part of how audiences connect with my films. With Rooh, we want music that captures the soul of the film, which is deeply romantic, haunting and rooted by emotion.”
Production credits list Kumar Taurani, Girissh Kumar, Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna as producers, with Vikas Sahni as co‑producer. The music is being handled by Tips Music, reinforcing the company’s role in shaping the film’s auditory experience. The film’s release is slated for 2027, promising a fresh take on the horror‑romance hybrid for audiences across multiple Indian languages.
