Kartik Aaryan to lead Vivek Agnihotri’s Operation Sindoor; T‑Series backs the military drama

Kartik Aaryan has been announced as the star of filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming military drama, Operation Sindoor, according to a report by Variety India. The story is adapted from Lt. Gen. K. J. S. “Tiny” Dhillon’s book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan, and promises to delve into a covert operation that the director claims has reshaped security dynamics across the subcontinent.

The project will receive backing from Bhushan Kumar’s T‑Series and Agnihotri’s own production house, I Am Buddha Productions. Aaryan, who is currently filming Shimit Amin’s Captain India—a story set against the Houthi conflict in Yemen—will begin work on Operation Sindoor after completing that shoot. Agnihotri first revealed the film on social media in March, highlighting the extensive research conducted with several branches of the Indian Armed Forces and the real‑life inspiration drawn from the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

In a statement posted by the director, he described the film as “rooted in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and backed by extensive, ground‑level research in collaboration with multiple wings of the Indian Armed Forces, this is a story drawn from reality… not to create noise, but to confront it: with facts, with clarity, and the magic of cinema.”

While Aaryan prepares for his next role, fans can look forward to his appearance in Naagzilla, slated for theatrical release on February 12, 2027. The film, produced by Karan Johar and Mahaveer Jain and directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba—known for the Fukrey franchise—will also feature the Hindi debut of actress Preity Mukhundhan, who has previously worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema.
