Maatrubhumi trailer cleared by CBFC; release set for Nov 20 or Dec 11

Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama, Maatrubhumi, has finally cleared a major hurdle after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved its trailer on Wednesday, November 4. The 4‑minute and 43‑second teaser received a U/A 16+ rating, signalling that the film can now be promoted while the full feature awaits a final censor certificate.

Initially announced as Battle of Galwan, the film was renamed Maatrubhumi earlier this year. It is set to depict the 2020 border clash between India and China, a subject that has drawn scrutiny from authorities due to the improving diplomatic ties between the two nations. Despite receiving government clearance, the film’s content has faced challenges over its portrayal of China.

With the trailer’s clearance, the makers are eyeing two possible release dates: November 20 or December 11. A source informed that the earlier planned November 13 release is unlikely because the censor certificate for the full film has not yet been granted. The new dates are expected to be announced officially in the coming days.

Jio Studios will handle the all‑India distribution of Maatrubhumi. The film’s release strategy aims to avoid clashes with other major releases such as Yeh Prem Mol Liya, Gunmaaster, and G9, ensuring a smoother box‑office launch.
