Suriya’s ‘Scene’ hits ₹5 crore mark on Sunday; Kerala box office surges

Suriya’s latest Tamil action‑comedy, Scene, is making waves in Kerala, where it opened on November 6 and is already showing a robust Sunday performance. According to trade tracker AB George, the film’s tracked gross collection rose from ₹3.30 crore on Saturday to ₹3.90 crore on Sunday, a jump of ₹60 lakh across 1,626 and 1,644 shows respectively. The uptick comes even as the number of screenings increased only marginally, suggesting stronger audience turnout and higher per‑show earnings.

George, who shared the figures on X at 2:46 PM on Sunday, predicts that Scene could cross the ₹5 crore mark on its third day. While the estimate remains tentative, the trend points to a potential surge in Sunday totals as the remaining shows complete their runs. The tracker also projects a first‑weekend gross of around ₹16 crore for the film in Kerala, a target that hinges on the final Sunday numbers.

The film, written and directed by debutant Jithu Madhavan, stars Suriya in the lead role alongside Nazriya Nazim and newcomer Naslen. Supporting performances come from Anandraj, Lal and Raj Priyan. Production credits belong to Suriya and Jyothika’s banners, 2D Entertainment and Zhagaram Studios, while music is composed by Sushin Shyam and cinematography is handled by Vineeth Augustian with editing by Ajmal Sabu.

Promotional efforts for Scene included character teasers featuring Naslen and Suriya, a theatrical trailer, and an audio launch on October 31. A special promotional event titled “Scene Live In Dubai” took place on October 25, further building anticipation. As the opening weekend unfolds, the final Sunday collection will be decisive in determining whether the film meets the projected ₹5 crore single‑day gross and achieves the estimated ₹16 crore first‑weekend total in Kerala.
