Vijay's Jana Nayagan Advance Booking Opens in India; Sold Out Shows Despite ₹2500 Ticket Price

Vijay’s final outing on the silver screen, Jana Nayagan, is set to premiere on July 23 after a seven‑month delay. The advance booking window has opened across India, and despite ticket prices reaching ₹2,500 in some venues, shows are already selling out.

Bookings began in major cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kerala. In most markets, the Tamil version of the film is priced between ₹100 and ₹800, but Bengaluru—where producer K Venkata Narayana has a stronghold—offers seats at ₹500‑₹800, with many listings above ₹1,000. Early morning screenings, like the 6:30 AM slot at Cinepolis Nexus Shantiniketan, are already sold out, and recliner seats are priced at a record ₹2,500.

In Chennai, the ticket price cap stands at ₹190, with the cheapest seat at ₹54. The city’s Kamala Cinemas reported selling 10,000 tickets within minutes of opening, a testament to the film’s hype. Internationally, UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment announced that it sold thousands of tickets within an hour of the announcement, even before the release date was officially confirmed.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and Pooja Hegde, with supporting roles by Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani. The story is an adaptation of the 2023 film Bhagavanth Kesari by Anil Ravipudi.

The film was originally slated for a Pongal release in January but was postponed due to a delay in CBFC certification. After an online HD leak in April, the film underwent cuts and was ultimately rated A, clearing the board for its July 23 release.
