Poonam Pandey supports Sonam Wangchuk; joins CJP protest against NEET paper leak

Actor Poonam Pandey took to the press at the Jantar Mantar protest site in New Delhi to announce her support for the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and to stand with activist Sonam Wangchuk and the students affected by the alleged NEET exam paper leak. Speaking to reporters, Pandey emphasized that the demonstration is not about politics or religion but about the students who have suffered because of the controversy.

Pandey said she has been following the situation closely and urged people not to divide the country. “I am here only to request people not to divide India. Let’s not turn this into a religious or political issue,” she told the press. She added that the protest should remain focused on the students and not be hijacked by other agendas.

She also expressed concern for the health of Sonam Wangchuk, who has been fasting in solidarity with the cause, and for the safety of the protesters who will march to Parliament on July 20. “I pray everyone stays safe. I know it’s a march, and they might face difficulties or get lathi‑charged, but I pray they don’t suffer anymore,” Pandey said, highlighting the distress that students face after the alleged exam leaks.

The CJP’s march to Parliament has prompted heightened security measures across the New Delhi district. Delhi Police have imposed a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the BNSS, effectively banning protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons except at the designated Jantar Mantar site. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma clarified that no permission has been granted for any protest march or procession outside the allowed area.

According to PTI, the Delhi Police are stepping up security in anticipation of the Monsoon session of Parliament. The CJP’s “Chalo Sansad” march is scheduled for Monday, and authorities have warned that protest activities outside the permitted zone are strictly prohibited.
