The Bhool Bhulaiyaa series has become a staple of Hindi cinema’s horror‑comedy genre, boasting a flawless track record of box‑office hits. The franchise began in 2007 with Akshay Kumar in the lead, and the subsequent two installments saw Kartik Aaryan take over the role of the mischievous Rooh Baba. With the successful trilogy behind them, the makers are now gearing up for a fourth entry.
According to reliable insiders, Bhushan Kumar and his in‑house team are already drafting concepts for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4. “Bhushan Kumar is keen to make Bhool Bhulaiyaa the biggest franchise in India, and he has started working on gathering the core idea for the fourth instalment,” a source told Bollywood Hungama. The same source added that Kartik Aaryan is actively involved in the creative process, eager to step back into the shoes of Rooh Baba.
In parallel, legendary comedy director Anees Bazmee is reportedly in talks to helm the next film. “Much like 2 and 3, Anees Bazmee is expected to come on board Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 as well,” the source said, noting that negotiations over remuneration are currently underway. Bazmee, who is busy shooting his next project with Akshay Kumar, is anticipated to dive into the development of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 immediately afterward.
Both the producer and the director are aiming for a production start in the second half of 2027. Fans of the series can expect the familiar blend of spooky settings and comedic timing that has defined the franchise, with Kartik Aaryan’s return as Rooh Baba promised to bring fresh energy to the story.
