3 Idiots Not Re-Releasing on September 4; Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films Clarifies

Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films has officially denied that the 2009 blockbuster 3 Idiots will be re‑released in theatres on September 4. The production house posted a statement on its verified social media accounts, clarifying that the rumours are false and urging both the press and fans to rely only on official announcements.

The statement read: “With reference to recent media reports claiming that 3 Idiots will be re‑released on 4th September, Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films would like to clarify that these reports are false and factually incorrect. We request members of the media and fans to rely solely on official announcements made through Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films’ verified channels. We urge media publications to refrain from publishing or circulating unverified information.”

Speculation about a theatrical re‑release had gained traction across news outlets and social media, prompting the clarification. The film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Boman Irani and Omi Vaidya, was a landmark success when it premiered in 2009.

It remains one of Hindi cinema’s biggest blockbusters, becoming the first film in the language to cross both ₹150 crore and ₹200 crore milestones. Its final box‑office tally reached an impressive ₹202.95 crore, a record that still stands today.
