Elizabeth Olsen Addresses Wanda's Return in Avengers: Doomsday; Avengers: Doomsday Rumors

Marvel’s cinematic universe has cultivated a legion of devoted fans, and among its most iconic figures is Wanda Maximoff, better known as the Scarlet Witch. The actress who brings the character to life, Elizabeth Olsen, has recently addressed speculation about her role in the forthcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo, Olsen made it clear that she has received no official information regarding her participation in the new movie or in the related Avengers: Secret Wars project.

Olsen’s comments came after the MCU’s official cast list for Avengers: Doomsday omitted her name, a detail that has fueled rumors about whether the Scarlet Witch will appear. The omission does not necessarily rule out her involvement, as Marvel has a long record of surprising audiences with unannounced cameos and plot twists. The studio’s history of keeping major plot points under wraps has led to several actors appearing in films without prior confirmation.

Fans’ interest in Wanda’s future is further complicated by the ambiguous conclusion of her last on‑screen appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In that film, Wanda’s grief drove her to use the Darkhold in an attempt to reunite with her children from another universe. By the end, she destroyed all copies of the Darkhold and caused Mount Wundagore to collapse on herself, a scene that many interpreted as a self‑sacrifice. The lack of a body and the open ending have sparked theories that she may have survived, prompting speculation that the character could return as the MCU delves deeper into multiversal storytelling.

Despite these theories, there has been no official confirmation that Olsen will reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday. In her interview, the actress clarified that she only knows about her work on Vision Quest and has not been briefed on any other projects. She questioned the existence of a second Secret Wars and expressed uncertainty about the storyline, stating, “I know nothing. I know about Vision Quest, because I’ve seen Paul [Bettany] in the last six months. I know nothing about any of it. Is Secret Wars what happens after? I’m not kidding. Why did I think there were two Secret Wars? Are there not?”

Olsen’s remarks echo a pattern seen with other MCU actors, such as Andrew Garfield, who previously denied a return as Spider‑Man before later appearing in the franchise. While the actress’s silence may not settle fan speculation, it highlights Marvel’s penchant for keeping future storylines under wraps until the last possible moment.
