CINTAA Crisis; 8 Members Resign Amid Allegations Against Poonam Dhillon

Eight elected members of the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) Executive Committee have tendered their resignations and demanded fresh elections, citing a loss of confidence in how the association is being run. The resignations were submitted to CINTAA General Secretary Upasana Singh, who confirmed that a total of eleven members have stepped down, eight of whom were elected committee members.

The resigning members—Hemant Pandey, Mukesh Rishi, Sahila Chadha, Heta Parmar, Puneet Issar, Vindu Dara Singh, Vikas Verma and Deepak Parashar—issued a joint letter accusing the association’s leadership of abandoning collective decision‑making and constitutional governance. They claimed that President Poonam Dhillon and Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure had increasingly taken control of decisions without proper consultation.

Key allegations focus on the handling of official communication. The letter states that Dhillon has made independent decisions, such as communicating with government officials through her personal ID and directing industry correspondence via the association’s official ID. It also raises concerns about lawyers accompanying Dhillon and Kolhapure to government meetings, who were presented as CINTAA lawyers despite lacking authorization from the Executive Committee.

General Secretary Singh highlighted the misuse of personal email accounts for official CINTAA correspondence, arguing that all communications should pass through the association’s official email system to ensure transparency and maintain an accessible record. She reiterated that the resignations and complaints were filed together, underscoring the members’ belief that Kolhapure and Dhillon are misusing their positions.
